Coyote Linux Kernel Security Update

Published: May 28, 2026

Recent Linux kernel vulnerability disclosures have raised questions about local privilege escalation risks on Linux-based systems.

Coyote Linux releases newer than 4.0.193 include kernels with the relevant vulnerability fixes applied.

It is also important to understand the practical exposure model for Coyote Linux. These vulnerabilities primarily affect systems where unprivileged local users can log in and attempt to escalate privileges. Coyote Linux is not designed as a multi-user shell environment and does not provide regular user access. The only administrative account already has full system permissions.

As a result, the normal attack path for these local privilege escalation vulnerabilities is not present in a standard Coyote Linux deployment. In short: current releases include the appropriate kernel fixes, and the Coyote Linux system design substantially limits the practical impact of this class of vulnerability.

Users should continue to keep their Coyote Linux installations updated and should deploy versions newer than 4.0.193 where possible.
